MyDesk project is a design proposal for a commercial office building, with creative workshop facilities. The design is proposed for the Corn Exchange building, located in the Cornhill quarter in the heart of Lincolns city centre. The concept behind this project was to design a Covid-19 safe space to work. The motivation for this has been the lockdowns which have stopped people from going to work, this design proposes a safe working environment for people to access if they want/need to return to a working environment. The target audience for this project is, young professionals and recent graduates, however the concept of this project is to provide a safe space for people who cannot return to their usual work place due to Covid-19. So therefore the building is available to anyone who requires certain facilities. The design proposes a coffee shop, offices (studio spaces), creative workshop spaces such as, model making workshop, wood working workshop, photography studio, collaboration suite and a printing studio. As well as client meeting spaces and conference rooms. The neighbouring building has also been considered in the design for a proposed children’s day care centre to provide facilities for parents wanting to return to a working environment.
