Synthe-sized

Synthe-sized is a project that focuses on the importance of sustainability and community. Fast fashion, as a highly consequential result of contemporary clothing business models, has led to an increased rate of clothing production. With this increase also comes increased detrimental effects on the environment.

The main objective of this project is to initiate the change in consumer behaviours through designing a space concentrating on reusing, recycling and repairing clothing whilst also educating users of the importance of mitigating the effects of fast fashion. Many of the design elements within the space have been inspired by different functions and parts of a sewing machine. Within a sewing machine there are many interconnecting parts that function and work together as one and this conceptual language has been applied to certain spaces in the building. Each section of the interior is connected to one another showing a physical relationship between concept and functionality.
