Ceci n’est pas un expostition surrealiste focuses on surrealism; the movement that was founded in the 1920s to explore the unconscious mind.
The interpretation and meaning of the word surreal has transformed over the past 100 years since surrealism gained popularity. To celebrate its centenary this exhibition is designed to celebrate surrealism; whilst exploring the evolution of the movement. It aims to regenerate enthusiasm and bring new understanding to a “subject” that has fallen out of favour. Visitors will be taken on a visual journey from its emergence in the 1920s, exploring its influence into mainstream media.
Using a range of interactive and theatrical elements the exhibition will take the audience on a journey to the surreal, to create appreciation and intrigue into a new wave of surrealism.
