Afaf Shamieh: Talk & Rhino Workshop

Afaf Shamieh is an architectural designer at Populous, based in the EMEA London office, where she contributes to large-scale sports and entertainment projects across the Middle East, including stadiums, arenas, and training and competition facilities. Prior to joining Populous, Afaf completed her Master’s degree in Emergent Technologies and Design (EmTech, AA) at the Architectural Association School of Architecture (AA School). Her highly distinguished thesis, Ground-Up, was presented during Climate Week at the Architectural Association School of Architecture  under the theme Regenerative Ecologies, exploring how architecture can respond to climate and ecological change in post-war contexts through a wastewater and soil treatment framework embedded within Valley landscapes. Afaf holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architectural Engineering with a specialization in building conservation and restoration, and has professional experience across the Middle East, having worked on residential, commercial, hospitality, and heritage projects.

This is an aspirational presentation and a technical explanation, followed by a Rhino workshop. It will demonstrate the workflows and explain the process a hands-on component for a  practical experience.
